Will be touching on famous poets and stuff like that. ^^

Question: Choose a poet by going online to a couple of the internet sites such as Poets.org (Academy of American Poets website) or American Poetry Online. Blog on your favorite poet. Your entry should be approximately 400 words.

Answer: Hmm.. I would say that Robert Pinsky is my favorite poet. I find Robert intriguing as he uses figurative language in many of his poems and exaggerates and emphasizes on his main points, using words to play with our emotions like making us sad at one moment and happy at another. he also toys with the sounds and rhythms of sentences in his poems.
Another point that shows he is intriguing is from his interview with Encarta Yearbook. He arouse our interest when:
Encarta Yearbook asked, '' Do you see poetry flowering or withering as the next generation grows up in a world connected by the Internet? "

And he replied, '' Poetry seems to be flourishing in reaction to the fluidity and highly duplicable, mass quality of electronic media. I like my computer, my TV, my VCR, my CD player—but they are by their nature, each of them, inherently a mass medium. The CD performance happens in no one place, but is created electronically and can be multiplied indefinitely. The poem takes place in each reader's voice. We crave both. "

And he ended it with "The human appetite for art, I believe, is infinite."
This line shows his passion and motivation to poetry writing and his believe that poetry writing will be flourish in the years to come.

Who is he:
Robert Pinsky is an American poet and former Poet Laureate of the United States (1997-2000). He is known for his innovative, personal style, and his use of contemporary themes. Pinsky is a professor at Boston University where he teaches in the graduate creative writing program.
His collection of essays:
Landor's Poetry was published in 1968 and was followed by other essay collections in 1977 with The Situation of Poetry and Poetry and the World (1988) which was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award in Criticism. He received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship in 1974 and in 1975 published his collection of poems, Sadness and Happiness.

Haha I'm going to do another Language Arts Blog Prompt and as usual, in Perfect English ^^
So, I've done the blog prompt on my least favorite character, if you have read my previous post ( Not the one on random pics of course! xD) and I've stated that Hari's father is my most disliked.
Hmm.. I would say that Hari's journey in Bombay was the part which I like best. Firstly, Anita Desai's describes very well the urban people and their living lifestyle in Bombay, about how bustling and hectic the living environment is. She too emphasises that there are also some peple like Hari living in urban areas as in the case of Jagu's family, who lived in shacks made out of rags and flattened tin cans called 'zopadpatties'. I also like how Desai describes that there are also caring and kind-hearted people in the world, despite the ever changing climate and technology that we're having now. Desai also adds in some hurmour on some parts of the dialouge conversation between Hari and Mr Panwallah and gives the reader a sense of dread and suspense at the coconut seller and begger part, where she said that '' By day he uses his knife on coconuts but by night he uses it on..." keeping the reader in shock and suspense.
So, to conclude, Hari's trip to Bombay is the part that I like best but I would say that every part of the book is enjoyable as Desai writes soo well, playing around with our emotions and keeping us in suspense most of the time. ^^ 1 comments

Ok, another LA blog prompt that will be in * Perfect English * haha xP
Hmm... Talking about Village by the Sea, it's a really nice novel that is suitable for 'young adults' like us. It shows the contrast between urban and rural areas and it talks bout how a poor and pitiful family survives in a small fishing village in India, about how they fight for their freedom, their rights and their survival -- a well-loved book by all 1o2s haha ^^
So, to get to the point, I would focus on my least favorite first. Kays, many people would think that Biju is the most hated character in the book. However, I would prefer Hari's father as my least favourite character. Although he did turn over a new leaf at the end of the story, if it weren't for his toddy addiction in the first place, they would not have faced so much hardships and painful memories. Pinto, who got brutally slaughtered, was one good example of losing their loved one due to toddy addiction. If Hari's Dad was a hardworking, dutiful person, he would have gone to work to bring home the bacon. Now, due to toddy, he became useless and or as what Lila referred him to -- a heap.
If not for Hari's quick thinking to go to Bombay to look for jobs, their family would have met severe consequences due to their finicial difficulties, most of their finance going to the purchasing of toddy. Although Hari's Dad DID tried to find a job at first but in the end was cheated, he should not turn to toddy to forget his sorrows but should stand up again from where he fell and strive towards his goal -- to give his family a good and blissful life.
So to end it.. TODDY IS THE SOLE CAUSE OF THEIR FAMILY'S MISERY!!

Haha, here's another blog prompt that I'm going to do for the June holidays! *And it'll be in proper Language Arts English* * Dun worry ^^*
Hmm... Although I've never lived in the countryside before, I always thought that life away from the hustle bustle lifestyle that we have now will be wonderful. At least we can have a break from the busy and hectic life, away from stress, away from pressure. Just relaxing in our cosy little cottage enjoying the cool breeze, sipping a hot cup of moca, without anything to worry about. Rearing animals, cultivating crops, doing what a normal villager does -- no worries, a care-free lifestyle.
However, living in the countryside is not always good, living a normal daily routine everyday in the countryside, viewin the same scenary, doing the same stuff every single day -- there areno special surprises whatsoever.
In the city, you can try out new things, try new sports, learn new talents that can make life more entertaining and enriching. Education is also something you will surely get in the city and rarely in the countryside. learning new vocabs for english, learning new equations and techniques in mathematics etc. which can be of great help in your later life when you grow up to become a man of some importance. And by then, money would start rolling into your hands and you can relax everyday in your office enjoying your hot cup of moca, you would not have to bother about growing crops or rearing animals for a living like what you do at the countryside.
So my conclusion? Its best to be both rats^^ haha :D 6 comments

Didn't know that I haven blogged for so many days til I saw the date of my previous post.. 22nd May!! Omg.. It was so long ago.. So here goes the update...
There's one such book that changed my parents' lives. It's a duper thick book called The Mammoth Book of War Correspondents.
Ok, you may think that a war book is none other than a normal book and has no importance whatsoever, but this war book is compiled painstakingly by survivors of war and gives more than a hundred eye witness accounts of the reality of human conflicts. The day when I handed this book to them, they were full of awe...
Seriously they just grab the book and then got hypnotized by it. But not kidding, the pictures were so realistic and clearly depicts how selfish man could be to be fighting again its own kind to get to his own goals...
My parents *to say the truth* even shed some tears during the middle of the story. They hav changed a lot, learnin that life is precious and we should treasure every second of our life. They hav learn the importance of defense in the country and became more generous and less arrogant..
My Dad even started writing his own war book, no wonder people say that writers and journalists have been drawn to the dangerous war zones like moths to a flame..

Mayb his title would b " War is hell, and that's the truth."
